| ABOVE: This photo appeared in the Thursday, 8-08-63 edition of the Racine Journal Times. The photo's caption read, "Needing new rifles because their old ones were worn out, the YMCA Kiltie Kadets asked Senator Proxmire for aid in getting army surplus rifles. He couldn't help, as they are disposed of through a distribution system. Then a Racine firm, Sheridan Products Inc., offered the group five rifles. In the picture the rifles are being displayed for the first time on Wednesday, 8-07-63, at a benefit performance at the Danish Old People's Home Society. From left are: Mrs. Asmine Nielsen; Dan Korakian, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Korakian, 913 Lathrop Ave.; Miss Sophie Mikkalsen; and Randy Christensen, 11, son of Mrs. La Verne Christensen, 4605 Westway Ave." |
