BELOW:  The article on the 1963 VFW Nationals appeared in the Sept. 4th, 1963
issue of
Drum Corps News while the photo of the Racine Scouts at the 1963 VFW
Nationals appeared in the Nov. 30th, 1963 issue of
Drum Corps News.
BELOW:  This article appeared in the July 24th,
1963 issue of
Drum Corps News magazine.
NOTE:  Ken Norman and Bryan Aller listed below
as individual contest winners were not Racine
Scouts, but Racine Kilties.  A few (I believe only
three)  Kilties did attend 1963 VFW Nationals in
Seattle to compete in the individual contests with
Ken Norman winning Junior French Horn and
Bryan Aller winning Junior Bass Bugle for his
fourth consecutive year.  He would go on to win
an unprecedented 6 VFW national solo titles in a
row.  Also, Bryan Aller
never lost an individual
solo competition of any kind either locally or
nationally, while playing either Bass or Baritone
bugle.
BELOW:  This photo of the Racine Scouts drum and bugle corps was taken at the 1964
World Open and appeared in the 9-02-1964 issue of
DRUM CORPS NEWS.

Hansen's father.  Larry was a member of the Racine Boys of
76 drum and bugle corps at the time.
